WHY TAILORING
Tailoring is my roots and my core. More than ten years ago I built a successful tailoring house — it is where the heart and pulse of SHAO began.
I grew up inside the craft. Every Lunar New Year, my grandfather would commission a tailor to make custom pieces for our whole family. The fittings, the fabrics, the feeling of something made entirely for me — that ritual is what inspired SHAO Bespoke.

SHAO Bespoke is our fully custom garment and bespoke tailoring service, where every piece is designed and created specifically for you. The process includes over 45 precise measurements, design consultations using visual reference boards, technical specifications, pattern development, and full garment construction.
Clients may visit our atelier at 511 Canal Street, New York, or complete the entire process remotely through virtual consultations and fittings via Zoom. Our team guides you through fabrics, trims, and design details to develop a bespoke suit, custom dress, or tailored garment that reflects your exact vision.
Where time allows, we offer a complimentary muslin fitting to test the pattern before cutting into your final luxury fabric — ensuring a perfect result. Alterations are included as part of every bespoke commission.
SHAO Bespoke is chosen for red carpet appearances, editorial work, weddings, special occasions, and elevated everyday wardrobe staples.
Clients select from an exclusive library of luxury textiles sourced from world-renowned mills including Loro Piana, Gladson, Dormeuil, Carnet — to name a few — with many, many more and a constantly rotating, ever-expanding selection of the finest cloths available.
Our bespoke fabric library spans premium wools, Super 120s to Super 150s, cashmeres, silks, fine linens, and specialty performance fabrics — each chosen for drape, structure, and long-term wearability befitting true custom suiting and luxury tailoring.
We also offer vegan and sustainable fabric options. Custom lining, monogramming, embellishments, and bespoke design details can be incorporated into any commission.
Custom bespoke garments typically require 10–12 weeks from consultation to delivery, depending on design complexity, fabric availability, and fitting schedule.
For clients with upcoming events or tight timelines, expedited production under 4 weeks is available for select projects with a rush fee. Contact us to discuss your timeline before booking.
Yes — alterations are included as part of every SHAO Bespoke commission. Each garment is a one-of-a-kind piece created specifically for you, and we stand behind the fit completely.
Where time allows, we offer a complimentary muslin fitting — a test garment made in an inexpensive fabric to verify the pattern and proportions before cutting into your final luxury cloth. This extra step ensures there are no surprises at the final fitting.
Complimentary adjustments are provided within one month of delivery to ensure the garment meets our standards. Additional refinements beyond that window can be completed through our in-house alteration service.
Because each piece is made-to-order from scratch, returns are not accepted once production has begun.

Fabric swatches can be mailed to you. Measurements are guided by our team remotely, and final fittings can be completed virtually or on a scheduled visit to our SoHo atelier.
