Material Truths

SHAO pieces begin with materials chosen for both story and substance.

We work with world-renowned mills—Loro Piana, Marzoni, Albini—and next-generation specialists, drawing on the best of Italy, China, and Japan. Silks reflect centuries of heritage. Shirtings bear the touch of Albini’s Italian precision. Denim and cottons are sourced for longevity, color, and comfort.

Animal-free, recycled, and low-impact options appear throughout our work, not as a gimmick but as another expression of thoughtful design.

Production as Relationship

Close to half of our collection is crafted in the Eastern Shandong Province of China, where technique, technology, and family-held knowledge run deep.

The rest is produced in New York and Los Angeles, in ateliers that share our appetite for detail and our respect for the people behind each stitch.

We select partners for their ethics, transparency, and the beauty of their work—not their PR.

Lasting Over Latest

SHAO collections are produced in small, tightly managed runs. We don’t flood landfills with dead stock or design for built-in obsolescence. Instead, our garments are made to be reworn, restyled, and kept in play.

Care and repair are part of our client relationship. If a piece ever needs alteration or renewal, we’re here.
